The Employment section provides advice for all stages of the job search process through an Employment Guide, Job Search, and Resume Builder. 

Employment Guide

The Employment Guide includes a range of job search tools, articles, and activities for students, including: 

  • Creating a personal calling card along with a 60-second self-introduction
  • Researching employers
  • Keeping track of a network of contacts
  • Preparing for job fairs
  • Writing a quality resume
  • Crafting engaging cover letters
  • Developing interview skills
  • Searching for jobs

To access the Employment Guide:

  1. Click Employment in the top menu bar OR select Find Jobs from the menu on the left.
  2. Click the Learn More button in the Employment Guide section, or jump straight to a section in the guide using the blue section links.
  3. Use the blue links on the left side of the page to navigate to different sections of the guide.

Job Search

The Job Search tool incorporates content from Indeed.com, a job search engine with postings from company career sites and online job boards. If the tool is enabled, students can access the Job Search tool through the Employment section or through occupation profiles by clicking the Find Jobs button.

To access Job Search:

  1. Click Employment in the top menu bar OR select Find Jobs from the menu on the left.
  2. Enter search criteria and click Find Jobs.

Resume Builder

The Resume Builder is linked with My Plan , making it easy generate a resume based on saved portfolio information.

To access the Resume Builder:

  1. Click Employment in the top menu bar OR select Find Jobs from the menu on the left.
  2. Click Build My Resume on the right side of the page.

To access the Resume Builder from My Plan, click Build My Resume at the top of the page.
