How do I add or edit a course?
Courses can be added or edited to Course Master from the Course Planner section in the Career Advisor Management System (CAMS).
To add a new course in Course Master:
- From your Advisor Homepage, click Course Planner.
- Click the Course Master section.
- Click the Add New Course link.
- Complete the General Information tab, including the Course Code, Name, Recommended Grade(s) (if applicable), Course Type, Credit, and Slots options. Include a Description (optional) and click Next.
- In the Relationship tab, you can categorize the course based on Discipline. You can also mark if it fulfills any specific Diploma/Planner Requirements. Finally, you can assign it to any of your school's Clusters. Once you've selected the appropriate details for each course, click Save. Your course will then be added to the Course Master and visible in the Student Course Guide.
- As an option, you can continue to the Alerts tab to add any Course Rules. Click Add Rule and choose from the drop-down menu for:
Prerequisite/Threshold lets you add other courses a student must complete before adding the selected course to their Course Planner. You can also add a Threshold mark (e.g. Student must get a "B") to prerequisites.
Credit Equivalent lets you add any existing courses that are equivalent credits to the selected course.The student will receive an alert noting that they won't receive credit for both.
Co-Requisite lets you add courses that must be taken alongside the selected course; these courses will then be automatically added to the student's Course Planner.
Admin Approval Only overrides all other rules. A student will only be able to submit the selected course if an Advisor approves it. You can also add a message that students will see if they try to add this course to their Course Planner.
To edit an existing course in Course Master:
- From your Advisor Homepage, click Course Planner.
- Click the Course Master section.
- Find your course by choosing the Discipline it's located in from the drop-down menu, or entering the Name or Course Number in the Find field.
- Once the course appears on the list, click the Course Code to edit it.
- Make changes in the General, Relationships, or Alerts tabs, and click Save.
- You'll receive a notification with the message Information Saved.
